Pakistan was among the first nations to introduce formal corporate governance compliances at an early stage. Directors of listed companies and public sector companies are required to secure formal certification in the form of Directors' Training Program (DTP). This Directors' Training Program is specifically designed for Islamic Finance Institutions & is offered by Center for Executive Education (CEE), IBA, Karachi in collaboration with IBA's Center For Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF) and is designed for Islamic Financial Institutions. This Directors' Training Program is also approved by the Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and recognized by Chartered Management Institute, CMI UK.
The Directors Training Program for Islamic Financial Institutions has an aim to cultivate financing techniques necessary to achieve strategic financial objectives focused on Islamic finance, the fastest-growing segment in the finance sector. Islamic finance operates according to Islamic law (sharia), and it is regulated by both Sharia'a and the financial services rules that govern the conventional banks.
It's a five-day training, which will help participants in understanding the importance and relevance of corporate governance standards for Islamic Financial Institutions. Corporate governance is considered necessary for the organizational effectiveness, it is not only concerned with maximization of profit but also it is an attempt to make sure that companies are managed and controlled according to ethics, which are acceptable by the whole community.
It enables participants to understand how to expand access to finance, develop their corporate's financial situation, improve corporate governance in it & protect their organization by addressing any un-ethical issues, while increasing their stakeholders' value.

The CEE DTP faculty leverages on highly experienced international and national thought leaders who have been selected based on their area of specialization, experience of boards and facilitation skills. They will share their expertise, practical insights, and knowledge and best practices in the different areas of corporate governance.
Abdul Rahim SuriyaAbdul Rahim Suriya is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan. He was elected as ICAP President for the year 2009-10. He has served as an elected member of the Council of ICAP from 1997 to 2013 (16 years) and was a member of International Accounting Education Standard Board of IFACÂ from 2003 to 2008 (6 years). He represented ICAP at SAFA for three years from 2011 to 2013.
He has over 30 years' experience in Accounting, Auditing, Corporate Finance and Operational Management. He is Visiting Faculty at the IBA, Karachi and NIPA. He is also a Professional Trainer especially on the subject Finance for Non Finance Executives and Corporate Reporting. During the past ten years, Abdul Rahim Suriya has conducted open -house and in -house specialized training programs for senior executives for a number of leading corporate clients. These programs were designed to cater to the special needs of the clients to achieve higher level of performance and achieve greater corporate synergies. Recently conducted workshops in UAE on Advanced Analysis of Financial Statements and Cash Flow Management.
Currently, Abdul Rahim Suriya is Partner with Suriya Nauman Rehan n Co., Chartered Accountants. He has authored a book on "A guide to business decision making".
He is Independent Director on the boards of Allied Engineering Management Company (Private) Limited, management company of Allied Rental Modaraba; UDL Modaraba Management (Private) Limited.
Amar Naseer is currently Visiting Faculty IBA, Karachi & the Director & Company Secretary, Unilever Pakistan Limited. Mr. Amar Naseer holds Masters of Law in International Business Law from University College London, UK. Mr. Naseer also earned Chevening Scholarship, UK in 1997 and UNDP Scholarship in 1991. He has also successfully went through Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is a Fellow Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. Mr. Amar has also completed course in Computer Science from World Trade Institute, New York, USA.
Mr. Amar has 25 years of experience in the area of finance, law and regularity, brands protection, industrial relations, corporate affairs, systems development and taxation. Currently, he has been associated with the Unilever Pakistan Limited as Director and Company Secretary. During his career, he had been associated with the Pakistan Banking Council, Civil Aviation Authority of Pakistan, Ernst & Young (Middle East), Unilever Mashreq Group (Egypt). He is also affiliated with the IBA as Visiting Faculty and Trainer for Director's Training Program on Corporate Governance of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan.
Mr. Amar presented technical paper on IP & Globalization at the Supreme Court's International Judicial Conference 2006. He was also the Lead Speaker at CIMA (Certified Institute of Management Accountants) regional CFO Forum in Sri Lanka on Crisis Management in 2012 and also represented the Brands Protection Group (ACIF - www.acif.org.pk) to showcase industry initiative against counterfeiting and piracy at the WIPO International Conference in Geneva, 2007.
Nausheen Ahmad is currently the Company Secretary and General Counsel of Habib Bank Ltd which is the largest private sector bank in Pakistan with a presence in 25 international locations. She started her legal practice with a corporate law firm Surridge and Beecheno after being called to the Bar from Grays Inn London in 1983.
Ms. Ahmad has an LLM from the University of London and LLB from Kings College London. She also has a degree in the philosophy of religion (AKC) from Kings College London. She is registered as an Advocate of the Sindh High Court, Pakistan. As in house legal counsel she has worked in ICI Pakistan Ltd, Unilever Pakistan Ltd and Pakistan Petroleum Ltd. She was Head Legal and Company Secretary at ICI Pakistan for 10 years.
Ms. Ahmad is currently a director of First Women's Bank Ltd. and also serves on the Advisory Board of the Lyceum School. During her years in the Corporate Sector she has been Non-Executive Director of the Central Depository Company and has served on the task force on Corporate Governance of the Karachi Stock Exchange and the Overseas Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is also actively involved on behalf of HBL with the legal and regulatory committees of the Pakistan Bank Association and the Pakistan Business Council. She was accredited as a Mediator and Master Trainer by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, UK in 2006. She conducts Mediation training regularly and has also qualified to train on corporate governance and dispute resolution. Recently she attended a course on Board Governance and Leadership by the Institute of Directors, UK.
Mahreen Nazar is currently an Assistant Professor of Law at the Institute of Business Administration. During her association with IBA the main area of interest are Corporate Law, Corporate Governance, Intellectual Property Rights and Industrial Relations. She is a Certified Trainer for adult education and is currently instructing courses and trainings in the executive MBA at IBA where an elective Corporate Governance-code and practices in Pakistan is offered every other semester. Being a certified trainer for corporate governance she is also part of the team of faculty of Directors Training Program, training board members of listed companies, both public and private sector, as required by the SECP.
She has advised a number of new startups on issues of formation of a suitable business entity and protection of intellectual property rights.
Mahreen has an LLM from Temple University in USA and LLB Hons from University of Westminster UK.
Syed Fahim ul Hasan is an Assurance Partner in A. F. Ferguson & Co., Karachi office also responsible for Firm's HR consulting services and Country Leader for Sustainability practice. Fahim has over 20 years of experience in the field of assurance and advisory practice in Pakistan and Singapore. He serves a large portfolio of multinational and local clients spreading across various sectors of industry.
Fahim has keen interest in learning and education. Due to this passion for learning and education, he played key role in setting-up the learning and education function of the Firm. He is a professional trainer and a regular speaker at IBA, Karachi. He is also a member of Education and Training Committee of ICAP.
Rahat AzizMr. Rahat Aziz is a legal practitioner of Corporate and Commercial Law. He is presently managing a reputable consultancy firm with a clientele ranging from all industries and business including but not limited to Woodcraft Group, GSK Pakistan Limited, DHA Karachi, TCS Private Limited, Lakhra Coal and Development Company, Akseer Research (Pvt) Limited, Souvenir Tobacco Limited, Pakistan National Shipping Corporation, Korangi Association of Trade and Organization, Gaditek Group, Asian Energy Group, G.P Sourcing (Pvt) Limited and many more.
Apart from indulged in the main line of business as stated above, Mr. Rahat is on the board of Invest and Finance Securities Limited as Independent Director.
Furthermore he is involved as Visiting Faculty in Institute of Business Administration (IBA) and Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL).
Mr. Rahat Aziz is also one of the lead and oldest trainers of ICAP's and IBA's Director Training Program on the subject of Corporate Governance which is approved by SECP. He is himself a certified Director from IBA having successfully completed his Director's Training Program in the year 2016.
He is also involved as Master Trainer with USAID, The Asian Foundation, for NPO and NGO program. He is also engaged as trainer with all leading institutions of Karachi including IBA-CEE, IoBM-CMEC, EFP, NIBAF-SBF, KTBA and many others.
He has conducted Board Orientation Programs for some of the leading companies of Pakistan. The long list include Employers Federation of Pakistan, Fauji Fertilisers, Sindh Bank Limited, National Bank of Pakistan etc.
He has also arranged different training programs for leading regulator and institutions such as State Bank of Pakistan, Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Airforce etc.
Previously, Mr. Rahat Aziz was indulged with Sindh Judicial Academy as Head Faculty and Research Center where he conducted several programs for all the tires of Judiciary including courses related to Corporate Law, Civil and Criminal Procedural Law, Commercial Law etc.
Ahmed Ali Siddiqui
Mr. Siddiqui holds a Bachelors & Masters degree in Business Administration from Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi with six gold medals. His areas of specialization includes Islamic Finance & MIS.
He has over 20 years of rich Islamic banking experience and was involved in pioneering work in the field of Islamic finance in Pakistan. His major areas of interest are Shariah Compliant product development, Sovereign Sukuk & deal structuring, development of innovative solutions for retail, corporate & consumer banking, formulation of policy guidelines, Islamic banking training, Shariah Audit, applicative research & Islamic financial advisory services.
He also holds the post of Senior Executive Vice President &Group Head, Shariah Compliance Dept at Meezan Bank and is leading one of the largest Research departments in the Islamic banking world with over 40 dedicated team members.
His previous assignment includes launching of Car Ijarah – Pakistan's first Islamic car financing scheme & Easy Home – Pakistan first Islamic Housing Finance as Product Manager in Pakistan.
Mr. Siddiqui is also part of the Joint Financial Advisors team to the Government of Pakistan for Issuance of Local currency Sovereign Sukuk & Islamic financing transactions and has advised the government in structuring and issuance of Sukuk/Islamic transactions of over US $ 5 billion dollars.
He has served and is also a member of several task forces at the Central Bank level related to Islamic banking products, Islamic banking regulations, governance framework, Accounting disclosures and Adoption of AAOIFI Shariah Standards.
Mr. Siddiqui is also actively involved in Islamic banking training activities and has conducted various training sessions, corporate workshops & seminars on different Islamic Banking topics including Islamic Financial Products, Product Development & Structuring, Islamic Accounting Standards, Legal documentation and Liquidity Management Solutions etc. both locally and abroad.
He is also a frequent speaker on Islamic banking at National Institute of Banking & Finance (State Bank of Pakistan), Export Promotion Bureau, LUMS & Center of Islamic Economics (CIE), Karachi and has conducted several specialized training sessions & workshops in UAE, Bahrain, Malaysia, Australia & UK.
Mr. Siddiqui was recently named in the Islamica 500 for 2016 as among the 500 of the world's most prominent and influential personalities who build up and pioneer the Islamic economy and the Halal industry.
Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed
Dr. Zeeshan Ahmed is one of the leading management educationists in the country.He is also serving as Member of Sharia Advisory Committee SECP, CPD Committee of Institute of Chartered Accountants Pakistan (ICAP), Management Committee Reflections School, Board of Directors at Hikmah Institute, Member Academic Council of IBA Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF) and Patron-in-Chief at Naseeha Institute.
He completed his Ph.D. from Mississippi State University, US in the discipline of Finance. Professionally, he is a CFA and has also passed all CPA examinations (USA). He is also an MBA from IBA Karachi. He is also a Mufti from Darul Uloom Karachi.
Initially, he worked as a management consultant with A F Ferguson Associates, an affiliate firm of PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has held key positions in the three top business schools in Pakistan, viz. LUMS, IBA and KSBL and was Dean of KSBL. Presently he is Dean of Al Qadir University.
Recently, he has been working on curriculum and pedagogies that help in developing universally desirable character traits that are integral to the Seerah of Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and his companions.
Dr. Irum Saba
Dr. Saba has more than 18 years of progressive regulatory, research, training and teaching experience with organizations of international repute.
She has the honor to be the first Pakistani female to be part of the International Shari'ah Advisory Board in South East Asia and the Middle East. She is a member of the grand council of the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance Professionals (CIIF), Malaysia.
She is an Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance and Program Director of MS Islamic Banking and Finance at the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi Pakistan. She is also the coordinator of Academics and Research at Centre for Excellence in Islamic Finance (CEIF)-IBA. She delivers training both at local and international levels in addition to teaching, research and administrative work. She has written several articles and chapters in books on the topics of Management, corporate governance, Islamic finance, and Islamic microfinance.
She has extensive regulatory experience with a specific focus to promote Islamic banking and finance while working in the Islamic Banking Department of State Bank of Pakistan-The Central Bank. She has also contributed to the promotion and growth of the Takaful industry while working with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
She is a Shari'ah-registered financial planner (Shari'ah RFP). She holds the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) credential from INCEIF with distinction and Ph.D. in Islamic Finance from INCEIF. She holds a Master in Commerce (M. Com) with distinction and PGD in Islamic Banking and Insurance from the Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI), London. Her areas of interest are Political Economy, Management, Shari'ah, Wealth planning and Management, Islamic microfinance, corporate governance, and Islamic finance.
Dr. Irum is an inspiration to all women who wants to pursue a career but is too reluctant to take the first step. She has proved herself by demonstrating capacity and capability in a patriarchal society through knowledge and has undertaken challenging projects in a male-dominated industry. She is proof that with a golden heart full of passion and dedication even a female in the Islamic finance industry can be a leader and a leader must assist others to grow. Many youngsters admire and respect her for the guidance she offers to them and even in social media platforms, she is active in expressing her opinions.

Postponement
Due to any unavoidable circumstances, the workshop may be postponed by the institute. In case of postponement, the institute will refund full fee of the program or the participant may opt to defer his/her registration to the next program.
Substitute
Substitutes will be taken at least 2 days prior to the workshop. Should we be unable to accept your application for any reason, your payment (cheque/draft) will be returned to you.
Deferrals
All registrations deferrals must be requested in writing at least 2 days prior to the workshop. Send a note to the Program Registration Team indicating that you wish to have your registration deferred to another session of the same program within one year. The deposited fee will be carried forward. Please note that only one transfer is permitted. After one year, the deposited fee will be fully forfeited.
