June 21 2023: Officials from CEE, IBA Karachi attended a three-day workshop on "ADP Centre Business Development" in Dubai from June 21 to 23, 2023 hosted by the Commercial Law Development Program (CLDP). The workshop aimed to establish an effective ADR system in Pakistan supporting IBACEE Dispute Resolution Forum. The expert facilitators Zmarak Khan and Othmane Benlafkih from CLDP, Rekha Rangachari from New York International Arbitration Center (NYIAC), and Siddharth Jha from Singapore International Mediation Centre (SIMC) briefed participants on the business development and the operations of the Dispute Resolution Forum. Mr Wee Meng Chuan, CEO of SIMC, shared valuable insights on enhancing the service delivery of ADR Centers and strategies for engaging with commercial law firms in Pakistan and other regions to advance commercial mediation.
The IBA Dispute Resolution Forum (IBA-DRF) was approved as an official Alternate Dispute Resolution Center by the High Court of Sindh earlier in the year. IBA-DRF works on real-world disputes, provides education and training, and promotes various dispute resolution services.
The collaboration between CLDP and CEE, IBA Karachi represents a significant milestone in the development of IBA Dispute Resolution Forum as an effective and sustainable ADR center, providing critical dispute resolution services to parties in Pakistan.
